Welcome to Sharing Languages!

Since September 2014 in England there has been a major change in the position of Languages in the curriculum, with the arrival of statutory Language learning for children in key stage 2. The delivery of Language teaching and learning in both Primary and Secondary sectors, from ages 7-14 really does mean that teachers in both sectors, and beyond, are now Sharing Languages. In 2015 we have removed the word Primary from the logo to indicate that we are hoping to support communication and exchange between all of those interested in Languages 7-14.

This wiki was originally created and is organized by Clare Seccombe who is very active within the ALL Primary Languages Special Interest Group, coordinating also messages to Twitter and producing the Primary Blog in ALL’s termly Languages Today magazine.

This wiki is now set to evolve in this new environment of Sharing Languages 7-14, allowing teachers and other professionals from all sectors to Share their ideas, principles, knowledge, questions, concerns, experience and expertise of related matters.

Who is included in this Sharing?
Interested colleagues include
  • those in the Mainstream and Independent sectors
